The Bayonne Auto Terminal has announced they are closing the first week of May. Our intention is to load all cargo that is on the terminal and Customs cleared. We are bringing extra vessels into Bayonne to ensure there is enough tonnage to evacuate all eligible cargo. The last day for receiving at BAT will be April 20, 2018. No cargo will be accepted after that, no exceptions.
With the closing of Bayonne, we have added the port of Wilmington, DE and will increase the frequency of calls in Providence, RI. We are also still exploring other options in the New York metropolitan area and if we are successful another announcement will be made.
Due to the winter weather that affected port operations this week, and in light of another impending storm aiming to hit next week, the port of Boston, MA has decided to extend its policy of not accepting non-running vehicles during winter months to April 1st. Upon their opening of business, Monday, April 2nd, non-running vehicles are welcome to be delivered.
Please note that our terminal in Wilmington DE, Transcargo, will continue to receive non-running vehicles in the meantime to help satisfy your customer’s needs.
Due to the recent snow storms in the Boston area, the Boston Port will not be able to handle any non-running cargo until April 1st. We will continue to work with our Boston Terminals to see how soon we can start receiving non-running cargo, so please stay tuned and we will keep everyone updated with any changes.
We are very pleased to announce the addition of Wilmington, DE as a load port on our American –West African direct service. We are opening Wilmington in response to overall strong deliveries and add another option in the Northeast. The port of Wilmington is very experienced in handling RORO cargoes and we expect everything to run very smoothly. They have a very good relationship with local Customs and we can expect quick turnaround on documents and clearances. This is NOT a TWIC facility. We encourage all shippers to take advantage of this new option we are offering.
-We will be accepting non-running tow units.
-We will NOT be accepting forklift units.
-We will NOT be accepting any units without titles.
Receiving will begin on March 16, 2018. The first vessel to call Wilmington will be the Parana V0418 on April 9th.
